Striding Man Sculpture

These sculptures take their cue from Alberto Giacometti’s Walking Man series, where the elongated bodies, rough modelling and a forward stride were used to express movement with remarkable economy. Giacometti described the body through a pared-back silhouette, and the textured surface was deliberately left uneven so that light catches across it in flashes.

The same language carries through here: long, attenuated proportions, reduced facial detail and a strong sense of momentum.
