Korhogo Cloth

Made in northern Côte d’Ivoire, Korhogo cloth is created from strips of handwoven cotton stitched together to form a larger textile. The joints remain visible, as do the weave, irregular edges and small variations in the cotton, giving each piece a distinctly tactile surface.

The figures are drawn by hand, traditionally in dark natural dyes, with animals and graphic forms appearing across the cloth. Because every piece is drawn individually, no two are exactly alike.

Framed, it still feels unmistakably like fabric rather than a flat print, with the cotton and the hand of the maker remaining visible throughout.
